Blue Shield Belgium, ICOM Wallonie-Bruxelles, het Museum Kunst & Geschiedenis, Brussel, en het door de EU gefinancierde project ENIGMA, met de steun van de Vlaamse Commissie voor UNESCO,
nodigen u uit voor een unieke studiedag gewijd aan huidige uitdagingen voor cultureel erfgoed en collecties naar aanleiding van de Internationale dag van de strijd tegen illegale handel in cultuurgoederen:
Trafficking and Conflict: Challenges for Cultural Heritage Today

Dit in-person event wil een gedeelde reflectie stimuleren over de professionele, ethische en menselijke verantwoordelijkheden van erfgoedexperts en -instellingen. Het doelpubliek zijn professionals in de erfgoedsector, uit bibliotheken, archieven en musea, maar ook academici, onderzoekers, studenten en iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in de bescherming en het behoud van erfgoed.
De ochtendsessie is gewijd aan de huidige ontwikkelingen in de strijd tegen de handel in cultureel erfgoed, waarbij de nadruk wordt gelegd op de expertise van de Belgische rechtshandhavingsinstanties, ICOM, EU-beleid en onderzoeksprojecten die zich richten op kwesties in verband met plundering, diefstal en de illegale circulatie van cultuurgoederen.
Terwijl oorlog Gaza, Soedan en Oekraïne teistert en materieel en immaterieel erfgoed vernietigt en bedreigt, worden Europese musea, archieven en bibliotheken herinnerd aan de kwetsbaarheid van hun collecties. De namiddagsessie is een antwoord op de groeiende vraag in de Belgische erfgoedsector naar kennisuitwisseling over de
