Who are we?

The BELGIAN COMMITTEE OF THE BLUE SHIELD is part of Blue Shield International, a network of committees of dedicated individuals across the world that is

“committed to the protection of the world’s cultural property, and is concerned with the protection of cultural and natural heritage, tangible and intangible, in the event of armed conflict, natural- or human-made disaster.”

(Article 2.1, Blue Shield Statutes 2016)

The International Federation on Library Associations and Institutions – IFLA

The Federal Departments of Foreign Affairs, National Defence, Finance, Interior, Police and the Department of Federal Science Institutions.

The French Community, the Flemish Community, the German-speaking Community, the Walloon Region, the Flemish Region and the Brussels-Capital Region with responsibilities for the management and protection of the furniture heritage and real estate.

As well as other individual members in a profession related to heritage management and conservation.
