After the provinces of Walloon Brabant and Namur, Luxembourg is the third Walloon province to sign a cooperation agreement with the Belgian Committee of the Blue Shield! Our President, Gustaaf Janssens, and the Governor of the Province of Luxembourg, Olivier Schmitz, signed an initial agreement on 4 June 2024; a second agreement followed as part of the integration of Blue Shield Belgium into the LUX response programme.
LUX response is an initiative that pools knowledge and actions, and brings together key players to better prevent and manage crises. This network – in which Blue Shield Belgium represents the heritage sector – is made up of experts from a variety of sectors who can be mobilised to respond to a crisis. The working methodology of LUX response is based on the recommendations of the founding texts (UN Sendai Framework, NATO Baselines, the White Book: Recommendations for improving crisis management in Belgium, and the Report of the Walloon Parliamentary Commission following the floods of 2021).
The first meeting of the LUX response steering committee took place in February 2025.
